A touch of Frost

I have many favorites but I would love to be Inspector Frost. He is moody, obnoxious, rubs people the wrong way and hates the namby-pamby superintendent.

But in the end, after a lot of bungling he solves the murder mystery.
Phillip Marlowe would be my second choice. Both are similar in my view. I love sarcastic, dry humor detective stories.
